Mazmur 15:5

15:5 He does not charge interest when he lends his money. ¹ 

He does not take bribes to testify against the innocent. ² 

The one who lives like this ³  will never be upended.

22:27 Let all the people of the earth acknowledge the Lord and turn to him! ⁴ 

Let all the nations ⁵  worship you! ⁶ 

Mazmur 27:4

27:4 I have asked the Lord for one thing –

this is what I desire!

I want to live ⁷  in the Lord’s house ⁸  all the days of my life,

so I can gaze at the splendor ⁹  of the Lord

and contemplate in his temple.

Mazmur 59:5

59:5 You, O Lord God, the invincible warrior, ¹⁰  the God of Israel,

rouse yourself and punish ¹¹  all the nations!

Have no mercy on any treacherous evildoers! (Selah)

[15:5]  ¹ sn He does not charge interest. Such an individual is truly generous, and not simply concerned with making a profit.

[15:5]  ² tn Heb “a bribe against the innocent he does not take.” For other texts condemning the practice of a judge or witness taking a bribe, see Exod 23:8; Deut 16:19; 27:25; 1 Sam 8:3; Ezek 22:12; Prov 17:23.

[22:27]  ⁴ tn Heb “may all the ends of the earth remember and turn to the Lord.” The prefixed verbal forms in v. 27 are understood as jussives (cf. NEB). Another option (cf. NIV, NRSV) is to take the forms as imperfects and translate, “all the people of the earth will acknowledge and turn…and worship.” See vv. 29-32.

[27:4]  ⁷ tn Heb “my living.”

[27:4]  ⁸ sn The Lord’s house. This probably refers to the tabernacle (if one accepts Davidic authorship) or the temple (see Judg 19:18; 1 Sam 1:7, 24; 2 Sam 12:20; 1 Kgs 7:12, 40, 45, 51).

[27:4]  ⁹ tn Or “beauty.”

[59:5]  ¹⁰ tn Heb “Lord, God, Hosts.” One expects the construct form אֱלֹהֵי (’elohey) before צְבָאוֹת (tsÿva’ot, “hosts”). See Ps 89:9, but יְהוָה אֱלֹהִים (yÿhvah ’elohim) precedes צְבָאוֹת (tsÿva’ot) in Pss 80:4, 19; 84:8 as well.
